About us

New You Health Studio

What is a Health Studio? Simply stated, it is where one comes to experience a health and beauty transformation. As the artist has their workroom, we, as healthy aging artisans; have New You Health Studio. Our Health Studio centers on our commitment to the lifelong zeal for healthy and beautiful aging for our patient family. It is a paradigm shift from traditional medical care and aesthetics to a customized comprehensive healthy aging institute and advanced aesthetics. In an age where health care is dependent upon a diseased system that functions retroactively, it is past time that you come to one location for the most advanced, personalized care to achieve the results you deserve.

At New You it is our highest Standard to provide you with the most scientific based care. As we master the Science, we are driven to balance our artistic side. We see creativity and beauty in all that we do. Through the technical skill of our Artisans, they create beautiful aesthetics while we all find the art of science to be vital to our practice. At New You, our artistic creation is Transforming the Art of Medicine into Beautiful Aging.

Our Logo

Our logo was chosen for it symbolizes our mission: To empower a vitally healthier, more beautiful you, A NEW YOU!

The hummingbird symbolizes the anti-aging concept as it is known as 'the stopper of time'. With timelessness, the hummingbird symbolizes perseverance. As the hummingbird can fly backwards, it teaches us that we can look back upon our past. It teaches too, that we must not dwell on our past; but move forward and savor each moment. The hummingbird is most notably symbolic to us as love, joy, and beauty. The hummingbird on the horizon is A New You.

At New You we reject the notion that you have to wait until your condition is bad enough until you receive treatment. We believe that everyone has the ability to make the right choices when it comes to their health, and as a member of our patient family at New You, you will have the medical advice and the emotional support to live a more healthy life.

With New You, you will be exposed to not only the highest quality medical treatment in the City, but you will feel better, look better, and have the high quality of life that you believe you can have.

Whether you call it anti-aging, age management, or healthy aging; Dr. Shelley Alexander, D.O. has been practicing this type of medicine from the beginning of her career. Shelley would say that it was always meant to be. Looking back upon the journey that led her to this culmination of her career, you find that healthy aging has always been the underlying theme. In reviewing Dr. Alexander's mission letters for both medical school and residency, you find three reoccurring principles: preventative medicine, teaching and ultimately valuing each patient as you would your own family.

Today, Dr. Alexander is as passionate about the founding principles that led her down this path. She has joined forces with the best team to provide her patient family with the first of its kind, healthy aging and advanced aesthetics. The mastered traditional physician blended with the analytical age specialist, will delve into the medical as the team discovers the means to bring each patient to their healthiest lifestyle. As we utilize today's advances in anti-aging medicine to achieve living younger, we will be on the forefront of aesthetics so you look your best as well.

Her career's experiences shaped the foundation of her belief that the formula for great medicine is a teacher as a physician, that partner with the patient-family to empower healthy aging. Ultimately, Dr. Alexander's journey through the medical field may have swerved before realigning to healthy aging. She still holds the mission to maintain medicine as the most humanistic of all sciences...the one in which each practitioner must somehow seamlessly blend the art of caring with the science of curing.

Dr. Shelley Alexander, D.O. is an active member of The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), shown here recently attending the A4M international conference. New You is committed to obtaining the most current clinical research and scientific information available in this rapidly developing field of Anti-Aging Medicine. That current information is one way we are able to provide the absolute best healthcare possible to all members of our patient family.

Dr. Brian Lum, DC

is an integrative and functional medicine specialist. He is licensed and board-certified as a Doctor of Chiropractic. He graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College- Kansas City. Dr. Lum's post-graduate training includes diagnosis, preventative medicine, and nutritional medicine as part of the Diplomat of the American Board of Chiropractic Internist (DABCI) post-doctoral degree program. He is also trained in Functional Medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine.

The inception of Dr. Lum's passion for caring for those with complex chronic disease was witnessing his mother struggle with her illness for 14 years. In 1984, his mother was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. This debilitating disease often caused her to be bed-ridden, in constant pain, and experience chronic digestive problems. She was told that the disease was life-long and there was no hope for remission, the only option was to attempt to suppress symptoms through steroids and other medications. She was also instructed that her lifestyle, stress, diet, or any other factor had no effect on her health or condition. For the next 14 years she looked across the country for answers to improve her health. Dr. Lum became determined to find another approach for chronic disease treatment after observing her day-to-day struggle.

Dr. Lum's approach is unique. His goal is to form a therapeutic partnership with each patient to investigate the reason why and how the disease developed, using cutting-edge scientific research and assessment methods. It is through understanding and addressing the underlying causes of disease that hope for reversal of complex conditions is possible. This approach is known as Functional Medicine.

It is not uncommon for someone to be examined by his or her doctor, having blood tests done, x-rays or other diagnostic tests taken, only for the doctor to report back that "all your tests are normal". Yet, both the patient and that doctor know that he or she is sick. Unfortunately, this experience is all too common. Most doctors were trained to look only in specific places for the answers, using the same familiar labs or diagnostic tests. Yet, many causes of illness cannot be found in these places. The usual tests do not look for food allergies, hidden infections, environmental toxins, mold exposures, nutritional deficiencies and metabolic imbalances. New genetic testing can uncover underlying genetic predispositions that can be modified through diet, lifestyle, supplements or medications.

Dr. Lum uses such testing to help his patients prevent illness and recover from many chronic and difficult-to-treat conditions. He is highly skilled in evaluating, assessing, and treating chronic problems such as fibromyalgia, fatigue syndromes, autoimmune diseases, inflammatory disorders, mood and behavior disorders, memory problems, Parkinson's disease and other chronic complex conditions. He also focuses on the prevention and treatment of heart disease, diabetes, dementia, hormonal imbalances, and digestive disorders.

Dr. Lum continues to advance treatment and educate people on how to change their health and has lectured to various groups around the country. He has chosen to dedicate his professional career to the practice of functional medicine, providing hope to those with complex chronic conditions, by investigating and addressing the underlying causes of disease.
