Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy - Women
Hormonal Balance is Vital to Your Health.
Women's hormone replacement can be a maze of questions and problems. These include menopause, perimenopause symptoms, perimenopause weight gain, adrenal fatigue, menopause, or premenstrual symptoms. You don't have to suffer with any of these imbalances.
New You Health Studio is your expert resource for Preventative and Anti-Aging Medicine. Hormonal imbalances affect the physical health of your body, and also affect your mental and emotional health. The most common complaint we hear from our female patients is, "I just don't feel like myself."
If this is you, let us help!
Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is a very important part of your health. When synthetic hormones are prescribed, when all hormones are not balanced properly, and when follow-up testing is not performed to ensure correct dosages, health problems can arise. Our patients often come to us with several menopausal and perimenopausal symptoms: difficulty sleeping, hot flashes and night sweats, weight gain, difficulty sleeping, irritability and mood swings. This doesn't have to be you! These symptoms are avoidable with comprehensive BHRT administered by a qualified physician.
Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) for women uses hormones that are molecularly identical to the natural hormones present within your body. The goal is to restore and balance your hormones to their optimal levels. Having all of your body's hormones balanced will help eliminate symptoms associated with menopause, perimenopause, adrenal fatigue, hypothyroidism, and other hormonal imbalances.
It is imperative that you choose a physician to manage your hormones who is comprehensively trained and appreciates the human body's complicated hormonal system. All hormones interact within the body similar to an orchestra; if one is not playing loud enough it will not be heard and if it is too loud it will drown out the other hormones. Having unbalanced hormones causes negative symptoms and does not allow for your body's Optimal Health. Estrogen comes in three forms and can be metabolized into pro-cancerous estrogens or anti-cancerous estrogens. Synthetic hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is unsafe and should never be prescribed; research in this field has debunked this common myth which is often not understood by many physicians who are not up to date with current scientific evidence.
Equally important is that your physician deeply understands each individual hormone as the conductor would each instrument. The longevity of your orchestra greatly depends on the performance of the individual instruments, the successful interaction between, and an expert conductor to create a beautiful symphony!
Dr. Alexander is an expert in BHRT. She is board certified in this field, and regularly attends seminars so that she stays abreast of current scientific research. We have many local and out of state patients who were not satisfied with their existing medical care. We will customize a treatment plan that work for you, including the use of Skype and/or phone calls for follow-up appointments if you prefer, lab draws in-house or at the location of your choice, and mail-delivery of supplements and prescriptions.
Perimenopause is that transitional phase when a woman realizes she is "going through the change". Women typically notice symptoms in their mid to late 40's, however hormones begin to drop in their 30's and can occur earlier than that. Any of several menopausal symptoms can occur, including:
- Hot Flashes
- Night Sweats
- Weight Gain
- Low Libido
- Vaginal Dryness
- Mood Swings
- Urinary tract infections
- Hair, skin and nail problems
- Foggy Memory
The causes of menopausal symptoms are due to the changes in a woman's hormonal levels. Normally, when a woman is young and healthy her sex hormones of estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone are in balance. But during the transitional stage of perimenopause, these hormonal levels fluctuate, often to a large degree. Progesterone levels typically begin to drop first, causing sleep and irritability issues. But in essence, all three of these important hormones begin to steeply decline from their normal levels.
Estrogen, the dominant female hormone, begins to fluctuate wildly, going from being very high, to nearly undetectable at times.
Progesterone, often overlooked, may steeply decline, leading to what is commonly referred to as "estrogen dominance". Progesterone plays a key role in balancing the effects of estrogen and if this estrogen/progesterone ratio becomes too one-sided, symptoms described above tend to occur.
Testosterone, present at adequate levels prior to perimenopause, also begins to decline, often times quite rapidly. This hormone plays a key role in maintaining lean body mass and decreased fat stores, stamina, and libido.
At New You Health Studio, we evaluate and analyze ALL of your body's hormones, not just your sex hormones. Hypothyroidism is increasingly common in the Midwest and especially in women. The thyroid is typically misdiagnosed; often only a screening is relied upon and not thorough testing. Many women have not had proper thyroid function for years, but are able to have regular menstral cycles and begin to reverse weight gain within only a few months in our program.
Within our customized health programs, testing and balancing of all of your hormones will take place. It is not optimal to only see a physician for sex hormone replacement when nearly all women need attention to their thyroid, adrenals, or other hormone functions.
Treatment programs are all individually customized for each patient's unique situation. Upon completion of your initial, comprehensive evaluation you and the Doctor will be able to create a plan for moving forward that will meet your health goals and lifestyle. Doctor Alexander utilizes several of the effective treatment modalities including: injections, creams, suppositories, and pellet therapy. You will be able to discuss with the Doctor which treatment modality will be most effective for you and best fits your lifestyle.
